My new wall (in progress)

The walls in the room I live in at the moment are grey. I’ve decided to fix that.

These pretties have been drawn on paper, cut out and blu-tacked to the wall. The birds (which I believe are a peacock-rooster-crane-ibis chimaera) are drawn in markers, the circle-patterned paint sprites are drawn in black gel ink pen.

I’ll post more of these as they go up :)

Portrait of Nina Simone
This was a lot of fun to do. A good way to test-drive my new (at the time) Faber-Castell grey markers. For the extra dark areas I used the trusty black gel ink pen :)

Mr. Puntila and his man Matti
The most fun image I have done in uni. A theatre poster commission from the Coventry Belgrade Theatre team. Sadly, it didn’t win the competition to turn it into the official poster plastered around the city, but it did reach the final 3 :)
Check out the deck of cards I made inspired by this poster:

I’ve had requests for a high resolution version of this treasured piece, so here it finally is for your delight :)
This is as close as I ever came to a self-portrait. For those of you who can’t quite make it out, the writing reads “I still believe in Madness”. It represents my personal belief and general attitude towards my artwork - that of finding inspiration in the most unfamiliar, unusual and unsettling of places.
Madness just seemed like a good place to start.

I went to my first session of Dr. Sketchy’s! :D

This month’s theme was Spring.

The atmosphere was absolutely enchanting, and the results were more than pleasing ^_^ I’ll certainly go again :)

a mix of mechanical pencils, graphite, sepia pencils, black pens and sharpie markers

Update: photos from the event are up!

I got a little carried away with this tree design.
Result: mind-expanding :)
